Troy Restaurants
Troy, New York is a beautiful city full of culture, history, and great cuisine. I have created a list of some of my favorite local restaurants and small businesses for you to explore, should you want to plan ahead or make reservations before your arrival. Many of my recommendations are listed, but I would suggest taking a walk through downtown - you’ll be sure to pass a bunch of great places that aren’t on this list. Albany - New York’s capital, is also a short drive. I have included some recommendations there as well!

Troy Restaurants, Bars and Cafes:
Little Pecks/Donna’s Italian/Lucas Confectionary - One of my favorite restaurants in Troy. All under the same owner and merged in the same building. During the day, Little Pecks is a coffee shop with good brunch/coffee menu and a great, enclosed greenhouse with seating. After 4:00PM, Donna’s Italian and Lucas Confectionary opens, serving specialty wood fired pizza and appetizers, cheese plates and great cocktails! I recommend going on a Friday or Saturday night and sitting outside in warmer months. Often there are live DJ’s or performers!
Superior Merchandise Co - Local goods and groceries paired with great coffee - great atmosphere for doing online work.

Placid Baker - Bakery with great bread, pizza, and baked goods, baked fresh every morning. Their almond croissant is my favorite (they sell out of these quickly on the weekends, so make sure to get there bright and early!)

Bard and Baker - Unique board game cafe with great snacks and drinks and a fun atmosphere.

Finn`s - American small menu restaurant

Herbies Burgers - In-N-Out style burger , open really late

Naughters - Great breakfast and lunch, open late

Whistling Kettle - A local tea house with a wide variety of unique teas and a great lunch menu.
Bootleggers Bar - If you’re looking to go out on the weekend, this is a great place to start. Cheap, strong drinks and good snacks! Right across the street from Donna’s Italian.

Brown’s Brewing Company - A local, historic brewery with products in many stores throughout New York. They have a cute patio right on the river. If you like beer, definitely make sure to stop by!

Ryan’s Wake - Recently expanded Bar Hotspot with solid bar food menu, great patio, and river views.

The Ruck - Classic spot with lively bar scene and great wings and bar food.

Nighthawks - Burger menu every night and Rotating unique local farm to table specials menu
Thursday-Sunday, amazing brunch

Red Front - Awesome pizza, make sure to try the COB (Cheese on Bottom). Hole-in-the-wall, but a Troy classic!

Defazios Pizza - Troy Pizza Classic for Italian staples and Pies.

Lo Porto - Old School hangout for classic large portion Italian dishes (I recommend the Cognac Sauce!)
Manory’s - Classic Troy Diner, established in 1913 - great breakfast menu.

Famous Lunch - Legendary counter seating spot with mini hot dogs.

Junior’s Bar and Grill - This sports bar is a local favorite, serving great food and drinks. Very fun, clean atmosphere! Just a short drive.

Tipsy Moose - Local bar with great food (their Mac n cheese is amazing); they host trivia night on Mondays! They also have a great brunch menu.

Albany Recommendations:
Stacks Espresso Bar - One of my favorite coffee shops! Great espresso and views of downtown Albany (I would recommend the Broadway St location).
Sukothai - A hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant with indoor seating and great takeout. Super nice owners and amazing, authentic Thai food! I strongly recommend their Pad Thai and curries.

Rosanna’s Italian- Great ambiance and amazing Italian food, located in historic Center Square.

Dove and Deer - Upscale bar food and cocktails, also in Center Square.

Cafe Capriccio - Great, authentic Italian food.

Prime 677 - Very upscale steak house - if you’re looking for a fancier dinner I would highly recommend coming here! Reservations are recommended.

Local Attractions
Local Activities:
Troy Farmer’s Market - Every Saturday from 9AM-2PM, located in downtown Troy. There are numerous produce and homemade goods vendors and great fresh food and drinks!
The Troy Farmers Market was voted #1 in the country by American Farmland Trust People’s Choice!
*In colder months they tend to host the market indoors. They post updated information weekly so check out their website!*

Tri-City Valleycats - Minor League baseball team in Troy. The tickets are cheap and they often have fireworks and other fun activities! Great option especially if you are coming into town with kids.

Cohoes “Eat in the Street” - Every Friday night, Remsen Street in Cohoes blocks off the entire street and local restaurants set up outdoor dining. There is often live music - it’s a fun night out! Just a short drive from the Airbnb. (The Daisy Taco is located on this street and participates in Eat in the Street)

Peebles Island State Park - This is a beautiful park with trails and great views of the Hudson!

June Farms - Farm just 15 minutes away, with a great bar (21+ at night), wood-fired pizza menu and an overall, great taste of nature. You can rent a golf cart to drive around the premises and see the farm animals, or grab a cocktail and walk along the paths. They also occasionally offer goat-yoga (look it up)! Definitely check out their Instagram or website; it has become a very popular attraction that I would highly recommend!

Day Trips:
Thatcher Park - Beautiful views of Albany with great hiking trails, waterfalls and picnic areas.

Saratoga Springs - Saratoga is home of a world-famous Horse Racing Track (big event in summer months - I would highly recommend going if you can!), great downtown section with shopping and dining, and a lively nightlife. SPAC is a large performance center in Saratoga, which hosts great shows and concerts throughout the summer. Lawn seats are typically very cheap, and a fun experience!

Adirondack Mountains- The Adirondacks are one of Upstate New York’s best attractions. The beautiful lakes, hiking, skiing and towns are definitely worth visiting if you have time. Lake George and Lake Placid have great towns to walk around.

Catskills - The Catskills region has so many great day trips to offer! Hudson, Rhinebeck, Woodstock and Beacon are great towns with a lot of restaurants, shops and small businesses to walk around to.

Shopping:
Crossgates Mall - Right next to UAlbany; has a bunch of stores and activities (Dave & Busters, Escape Rooms, and more!)

Colonie Center - A bit smaller of a shopping selection, but has a great movie theater and some good chain restaurants such as P.F. Chang’s and Cheesecake Factory.
